Sloths are a major part of our animal coverage here at HuffPost Green, and a recent story about Monique Pool, a woman in Suriname who rescued 200 of the lovable creatures, touched our hearts. After cattle farmers cleared 16 acres of forest in the Guiana Shield, Pool jumped in to save hundreds of sloths, porcupines and anteaters forced to evacuate their homes.


Conservation International visited Pool shortly after she rescued the creatures, and took these incredible photos of her sloth sanctuary.
