ITC Bans Importation of Older iPhones, iPads

The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) has placed a U.S import ban on a number of older iPhone and iPad devices, claiming that those units infringe on patents owned by Samsung.

Specifically having to do with the "apparatus and method for encoding/decoding transport format combination indicator in CDMA mobile communication system," the ban covers the iPhone 4 and below and iPad 3 and below; but only on AT&T

Newer models of the iPhone and iPad, and those not on AT&T’s network, do not use the technology and are not affected under the ban.
